Global Ad Trends: The State of the Industry 2020/21 (2020)

WARC

Main takeaways

  • It will take at least two years to fully recover after 2020 cut $63bn from the global advertising economy.

  • This year's ad recession is worse than the last in absolute terms.

  • Only 59% of this year's losses will be recouped.

  • Online video is the only format to have its prospects upgraded.

  • The government & non-profit sector was the only one to increase adspend in 2020.

Media Impact Funders

This report shows that while the bulk of giving across many media types is concentrated to just a handful of community foundations, the scope of giving is “an encouraging sign that community foundations are recognizing the importance of supporting media as part of a larger strategy to build and sustain healthy communities.”

Open Data Watch

USAID DRG Data Portraits (Dec 2020)

USAID Data Services

USAID Data Services and the Center of Excellence for Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance (DRG) designed these Data Portraits to make critical data more readily accessible.

Currently, the only Data Portraits available are for the overall DRG sector in the countries where USAID works. Data Portraits for the following DRG subsectors will be available soon: Rule of Law, Human Rights, Civil Society, Elections and Political Transitions, Independent Media and Free Flow of Information, and Good Governance.

The available Data Portraits are organized by region. Use the links below to open the list of DRG Data Portrait options for each country, and they will open in a separate browser window.
