Goals & aims

CAMECO is especially concerned with empowering community and development-oriented media initiatives and strengthening the presence of the Church in the media, as well as enhancing the importance of the media within the Church.

CAMECO is especially concerned with empowering community and development-oriented media initiatives and strengthening the presence of the Catholic Church in the media, as well as enhancing the importance of the media within the Catholic Church.

Main activities

  • support donors in assessing and evaluating media and communication projects and proposals, identify risks and challenges they face, as well as opportunities and potential they offer,

  • advise partner organisations on methods and approaches to develop, plan, implement and monitor media and communication projects, and how to establish a sustainable financial and organisational footing.

  • raise awareness on methods of audience research, participation and interaction to build and strengthen a relationship between media and communication initiatives and their target groups.

It offers its services to local partners, organisations active in delivering media assistance, and to donors – among them many faith-based agencies.

CAMECO Media Development Library is a comprehensive collection of literature and training materials related to: Media development and international media assistance; Media landscapes in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe; Development communication; Community media; Christian and religious communication. It holds over 13,000 online and print publications, and pay special attention to training materials, case studies and evaluation reports.
