Objectives

Provide Data and Insights: Offer donors, funders, implementers, and policymakers qualitative and quantitative data to effectively address systemic challenges within specific national contexts that inform regional and international mechanisms.

Outcome: Increased availability of curated data, analysis, and actionable insights for stakeholders.

Harmonise Media Development Efforts: Enable media development actors to address diverse needs, assess challenges media and journalists are facing, and evaluate the impact of programmes.

Outcome: Improved resource sharing, strategic alignment, and evaluation of media support initiatives between national, regional and international actors.

Enhance National and Regional Communication and Coordination: Foster dialogue, a sense of community and collaboration among media support actors through regional meetings (each with a focus on two three countries) that build on and support locally-led initiatives.

Outcome: A strengthened national, regional and international community of practice around media development and journalism support, improving information sharing, coordination, and communication.

Empower National and Regional Actors: Ensuring the meaningful ownership of initiatives and participation of regional and national media support and journalism assistance organisations and the journalism community.

Outcome: Responsive media support activities that are enriched with local expertise and that embrace opportunities for joint initiatives and collaboration.

Reinvigorate Support for Independent Media: Unite national and regional journalism and media support actors with donors and policymakers to co-create strategies for adhering to OECD Development Co-operation Principles for Relevant and Effective Support to Media and the Information Environment.

Outcome: Enhanced support for independent media and a strengthened information environment.
